SUSTAINABLE FASHION

The fashion industry is one of the biggest polluting industries in the world, significantly contributing to climate change. Clothes are produced cheaply in mass quantities, by a workforce of 80% that are often trapped in modern day slavery, or have to work 15 hour for very little money in the hope of providing their children with meals and a roof over their heads. I believe that fashion is a strong tool for self-expression, which doesn't mean we can't have some fun with it whilst being very conscious about what we wear. I believe in personal style rather than trends and in slow fashion rather than fast fashion.

NATURAL, ORGANIC BEAUTY

Conventional beauty products are filled with toxic chemicals that are bad for us and the environment, animal-derived ingredients and even micro-plastics. Considering about 80% of what we put onto our skin gets absorbed directly into our bloodstream I made the decision a few years ago to move to natural, organic beauty that was less harmful to me and the planet and my body. My philosophy has always been to take care of my skin first so that there would be less need for make-up as I personally prefer a quite natural look.

WELLBEING & Mental Health

To me, wellbeing and mental health are very extremely personal journey’s that every one of has to navigate in their own way. However I hope that by sharing my story and experiences I can help other’s. My approach is quite a holistic and experimental one (as I personally haven’t found conventional western medicine to work for me), but I’m in no way a health practitioner. I do believe that selfcare should be more approachable and try to give tips on how to incorporate this more in your daily life.

FOOD PHILOSOPHY

I honestly believe that eating should be a joyful experience as it can bring people together, massively impact our mental state and obviously our physical one. I personally follow a mostly whole-foods, plant-based diet as I have found it’s what makes me feel best and what has been proven to be better for the environment. If I do eat animal products that is usually free range, organic eggs, wild salmon, organic goats cheese and raw organic honey. I believe in cruelty-free, organic and local production which is why I buy at the farmers market, so I know where my products come from and that I can trust their production. My biggest advice is to really be conscious of your body and discover what makes you feel good without judging others. If you are vegan you can easily replace ingredients like honey with other syrups, I indicate this on every recipe, and you can just skip the ones that include other animal products.

LESS WASTE (NOT ZERO WASTE)

The plastic pandemic has become one of the biggest issues of our time. We have created it and now we are drowning in it, but that doesn't mean that there isn't something that can be done. I don't use the term 'zero waste' because I feel it puts a lot of pressure on people to be perfect (which is often impossible and in certain cases like in hospitals very unrealistic). I believe that if we all were able to cut down our single-use plastic intake drastically we could make a huge difference- especially as there are often quite easy alternatives! This blog is meant to help you on your journey to less waste and less plastic consumption.
