Savoury Chickpea Flour Pancakes


These savoury chickpea flour (aka gram flour) pancakes are a really easy go-to for a busy lunch or dinner, but still provide for a protein rich plant-based meal. I love topping them with coconut yoghurt, avocado and cherry tomatoes, but you can top them with pretty much anything. It’s also one of the most budget-friendly recipes you could possible make because of it’s simple ingredients.

Serves 2:

  • 150gr gram / chickpea flour

  • 200gr water

  • juice from half a lemon

  • pinch of salt

  • handful chopped chives (optional)

  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric (optional)

  • Toppings optional (I love coconut yoghurt, avocado, cherry tomatoes)



In a large bowl whisk together the flour, water, lemon juice and a pinch of salt until you obtain a smooth batter. Heat up a drizzle of oil in the pan and scoop half the mixture into the pan (less if you want to make smaller ones). Let it cook for about 2 minutes or until golden and flip to do the same on the other side. Once ready remove the pancake and do the same with the rest of the batter.

Add your favourite toppings and serve.
