My Favourite Ethical Activewear

DSC09118.jpg

I don’t know about you, but since the weather has started becoming better so has my motivation to workout more regularly. Don’t get me wrong I was still working out this winter, because I so strongly believe in the mental health benefits of movement, but as you know, getting out of the coziness of your home is a struggle.

When the sun starts showing it’s face however I start feeling charged again and all I want to do is go out and get moving! Right now I’m working out 4-5 times a week (might make a workout routine soon, let me know if you’d like to see this) and have a few ethical activewear items on rotation that I wanted to share with you guys in case you’re looking for a new piece - as always #shopresponsibly. Ps.: remember to always wash your synthetic materials in a Guppybag so avoid microplastics entering our oceans.

One of my favourite legging is by the brand Girlfriend Collective who have two collections, one made from recycled plastic bottles and a newer one made with ECONYL® regenerated nylon. I have a blue pair made from recycled plastic bottles which is super nice and quite steady and I love it although I think that I would go with the ECONYL® fabric if I had to buy again as it’s just a little softer and more flexible.

My sports bra is from Organic Basics* made from recycled nylon and treated with a bluesign® approved recycled silver treatment called Polygiene® to stay help you stay fresh and I absolutely LOVE IT. It’s super soft and comfy and to be honest, really flattering!

I have to admit that I have quite a classic look when working out and usually just wear a T-Shirt or a simple tank top. My favourites are in organic cotton from Organic Basics, onetank made from regenerate nylon in black and a white one from the Adidas x Parley for the oceans collection which is my made from recycled ocean plastic. To be honest I am never courageous enough to just workout in a sportsbra, so the T-shirt only really comes off in a super sweaty spinning class, outdoor summer workout or my at home yoga practice. Who feels me?

In terms of shoes, a couple of years ago I was desperately looking for sustainable trainers and couldn’t really find anything so I went with Stella McCartney x Adidas shoes, because even though I couldn’t find anything online about their sustainability practice, I am pretty sure Stella does things quite well. That was a few years ago however, and the industry has changed… Since then I have however been introduced to Vivo Barefoot shoes, which are made from recycled plastic and made with the belief that having footwear that actually lets your feet do their job is how things should be - imagine that!!!

These are the items that I have and love, but here are a few more activewear brands you might want to look at, you know… to keep your options open!
